TCB UK Fundraiser: Cape Town Cycle Tour

Turning Miles into Meaning: Our First TCB UK Fundraiser

When Taking Care of Business UK was established, our vision was clear. To build a strong, independent UK charity that could mobilise support, grow awareness, and channel resources to where they are needed most in South Africa.

Now, we are bringing that vision to life.

From the boardroom to the open roads, we had fun launching our first community fundraising challenge. Earlier this year, our Chairman, Alan Roux, took on one of South Africa’s most iconic endurance events, the Cape Town Cycle Tour. The 109 km race is known for its breathtaking scenery, tough climbs, and unpredictable coastal winds. It is a serious physical challenge, even for seasoned cyclists.

Alan decided to turn this personal challenge into something bigger and invited his friends, family, and wider network to support him by donating to Taking Care of Business UK.

Support poured in from across Germany, England, Ireland, South Africa and more. By the time Alan crossed the finish line, we had collectively raised over £4,680 for TCB UK.

“The race was great, with about 30,000 participants, and all of Cape Town came out to support. I did the 109km in 3h23, which I was very happy with, and it was that much very motivating knowing I was riding for a good cause supported by many friends.” – Alan

Every Pound Matters

Every pound raised through this initiative will support our work to strengthen early childhood development centres, empower small business owners, and improve access to training, resources, and economic opportunity in underserved communities.

Fundraising does not always have to be formal or complicated. It can start with one person using their passion or their challenge to invite others into a shared purpose.

Thank You to Everyone Who Donated

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported Alan’s Cycle Tour fundraiser. Your generosity has helped launch TCB UK with momentum, confidence, and purpose.

This is only the beginning – would you like to Run, Cycle or Swin for a cause?

As we continue to grow our fundraising efforts in the UK, we look forward to sharing more stories like this, stories of people turning everyday actions into meaningful change.

If you would like to support our work or explore fundraising ideas of your own, we would love to hear from you.
